This marina boathouse was designed by Edel Regan Architect, while working with Akira Yamashita Architects and land planners in Boston, US. The project was design on an open-field site in Kawage, Japan, with the pier forming an integral part of the overall scheme. The design creates a strong connection between the boathouse and the waterfront, providing direct access to the marina while responding to the site’s open coastal setting.

Edel designed the plans for the ground-floor refurbishment of Iris House, our cancer support centre in Cork. This project means so much to us, as it will help us expand our services while keeping the warm, homely atmosphere that is so important to the people we support.
Her designs bring together our vision for a welcoming, accessible space with counselling and therapy facilities. Seeing those ideas take shape in the plans has helped us see what is possible for the future of Iris House Cork Cancer Support centre.
We are very grateful to Edel for her work and would happily recommend her.

Would highly recommend Edel. From the very beginning Edel was a pleasure to work with, her passion, enthusiasm and knowledge shone through when putting together the design for an old derelict bungalow. Edel assisted greatly with the Cork Co Council planning department, providing extensive knowledge with regards to the planning process and the importance of increasing the overall value of the house.
She was very approachable and helpful with any queries I had along the way. I would work with Edel again in the future.
As an engineer, it’s a pleasure to work with an architect who brings big ideas and a creative approach to her projects. She is collaborative, open to technical input and passionate about achieving the best result for her clients. Highly recommended.
Edel was a pleasure to work with. She quickly grasped what we were aiming to do and produced a design we were very happy with. She also responded very quickly with any queries we had. We found her both practical and creative. We look forward to realising our dream home.
We worked with Edel between January and September 2025 on a single storey bungalow project, which we wanted to be a passive house standard build with innovative building/construction technology.
After the initial meeting and a few iterations in the outside design of the house, Edel and her team delivered a drawing, which met our expectations. Edel was very helpful in advising on additional resources we needed to engage with, in order to complete the package for planning application to Cork County Council.
Edel showed flexibility to liaise with the recommended landscape designer and structural engineer, as well as with the engineered timber company we have shown interest in, to ensure a robust design for our new home.
We thank Edel for her professional support in submitting our planning application, and the later requested additional information packages.
We trust her knowledge and experience benefitted the design of our home-to-be, as well as the planning application process, which should soon result in a successful outcome from the council.
We were very happy with the service we received throughout the entire process of building our new home from Edel.
From the initial planning and zoning advice through to the architectural design, we were guided and supported every step of the way. Edel’s knowledge, professionalism and attention to detail were invaluable in helping us bring our vision to life.
Building a new house is a daunting process, but she was always approachable, readily available to answer questions, offer advice and provide reassurance whenever needed. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble.
We are now enjoying our beautiful new home, and we are absolutely delighted with how everything has turned out.
We would highly recommend Edel to anyone considering building or designing their own home.

Edel wad professional, knowledgeable and approachable throughout the process and took the time to understand my requirements and translate my ideas into a practical and well-thought-out design.
Her creativity, attention to detail and guidance through the process were particularly appreciated.
A pleasure to deal with from start to finish, and I would have no hesitation in recommending E.R. Design to anyone considering building their own home.
Found Edel from E.R Design Architects day won Houzz - immediately got a good vibe and found we were both on the same page. Great design ideas - no hidden costs. Transparency on costs from day one.
Edel did a great job of designing our new extension. We're extremely happy with the work that Edel produced. Would definitely recommend.
We have just completed the design stages with Edel, and are delighted with the finished result. We knew that we could make changes along the way, if necessary, as Edel is always at the end of the phone/email, and has listened all along to our wants and needs.
We wanted to work on our home redesign with someone who listened to us, and was interested in making the most of the space available, and only building on what was necessary. We found this absolutely in Edel and her team.
Would highly recommend E.R Design Architects.
Working with Edel Regan was an excellent experience from start to finish. From our very first meeting, she took the time to understand exactly what we wanted from our new home and translated our ideas into a design that exceeded our expectations.
"Edel was professional, approachable, and incredibly easy to work with throughout the entire process. She guided us through every stage of the design and planning application process, making what could have been a stressful experience feel straightforward and well managed. Her knowledge, creativity, and attention to detail gave us great confidence at every step.
We are absolutely delighted with the final house design. It not only captures everything we wanted in a family home, but it also maximises the potential of our site in a way we would never have imagined ourselves. Thanks to Edel's expertise and successful planning approach, the overall value of our land has been significantly enhanced.
We would highly recommend Edel Regan to anyone considering a new build, renovation, or planning application. Her ability to listen, create, and deliver outstanding results makes her a pleasure to work with, and we couldn't be happier with the outcome".
We went with Edel initially as she had experience working with older cottages but more importantly, she showed the most interest and excitement over the potential project.
She came to our site and went through what we wanted and then offered her ideas.
Those ideas were very much in tune with us and how we wanted to display the old and new parts.
She had great communications and every draft showed that she listened to our ideas. Each draft implemented those ideas in the most functional, but aesthetically pleasing way.
Very happy with the work and the final product and would definitely recommend her for future projects
Highly recommend Edel, we had met with three architects and only Edel truly listened to what we wanted and came up with a design to suit our growing family. She thinks outside the box as we wanted to do something different than just a standard square extension and she has a true passion for helping people. At our first meeting, she put pen to paper at our kitchen table, she got right into it and has continued with this excellent service and design.
All is going very well so far. We are in the the process of redeveloping an old farmhouse in West Cork and design work so far in the project has been top class. I have no hesitation in recommending Edel Regan for this type of work.

EdelRegan has a wonderful ability for encapsulating exactly what her clients want and crystallising their wishes into an amazingly creative construct.
She listened patiently to our needs and picked up on features we were interested in developing and adding her own wonderfully creative input, she designed for us, a beautifully proportioned, light filled home, with many stunning features.
She is client-centred, easy to work with, accessible, with a helpful eye on budgetary considerations.
She is ably assisted by her architectural technician, Anna, who also takes the client through the detailed specifications of Edel’s plans.
We are delighted we engaged Edel, as our architect and have no hesitation in recommending her to clients.
